Greetings From Sea
It's Aaron here. As Gloria continues to stress with wedding planning, I stress on the high seas and send my love from afar.
I think we have some truly beautiful colors...if you look at Gloria's choices, I would just like to say that she truly loves green. She owns many green things, polartecs, T-shirts, shorts...and other items (she knows some of them I haven't mentioned here).
But I love the colors as long as it is not a canary yellow, I wear this color frequently in my job with the Navy.
I am well and Gloria and I continue to communicate as much as possible during the port visits. I ask that you all continue to support my beautiful bride in every way/shape imaginable. She deserves it and has accomplished so much for a woman only 25 years young.
I wish you well in the coming new year and cheers. If you are wondering when the 10 children we are planning on having are truly coming, well, then wait at least 1.5 years...
I love you Gloria. I love you.
Cheers,
Aaron

wedding progress and mishaps

As with all planning, sometimes you just have to roll with the unexpected. My private tasting with the catering company was scheduled for Monday, December 22nd but due to my coordinator's typo, she had scheduled it for Tuesday, December 23rd. I hadn't realized the planning mistake until I arrived at the venue with a car full of family members eagerly awaiting samples of delicious food. Sad and disappointed, we ventured to potential wedding reception venues in hopes of crossing some things off my wedding to-do list. Actually, it was so I wouldn't panic at the one major thing I wanted to accomplish while at home. With major decisions like these, I can't rely solely on warm fuzzies on wedding coordinators.
I'm half-heartedly signed with a reception venue after only looking at its pictures off the internet. Warm fuzzies were strongly desired at that moment. When the coordinator failed to be, to the very least, accomodating or flexible with my desire to check out the site during some free time, my heart slowly sank. The second minor mishap occurred when she couldn't find my deposit but BOA says it was already deposited. Hm. Fishy fishy. After many phone calls to my coordinator who turned up out of the office during my free week home, I passed the baton to the stand-in and hinted at my apprehension of completing a full contract with the venue sight due to neglience. So here I am, needing a reception site with two possible options in front of me. I'll know which one will be best when I visit the sites on Tuesday.
My oldest brother David has been wonderful to oblige my mother's strong desire to display a slideshow of Aaron and my childhoods. I was a FAT baby. No kidding. Aaron was an adorable boy. I think it'll be entertaining to watch the progression of our lives into adulthood. We've both matured so well. So back to David and his wonderful scanning patience. He's compiling many, many photos of me and I haven't approved all photos so this may be a little embarassing for me.
But look above and you'll see the revised invitation and response card. The colors changed to my selected wedding colors and it looks great.
There's so many more little details I need to attend to. Whew!

wedding planning is slowly working out!

Gloria here.
Thank God I'm back in Florida with the rest of the family during my winter break. It's such a needed 3-week break to focus on spending time with my siblings and making wedding plans as anticipated.
My sister, mother and grandmother spent the afternoon looking at wedding dress after wedding dress. I've heard stories of terrible bridal dress shopping and less than mediocre dress styles so I approached the task with optimistic eyes. We checked out one store, fully equipped to go to 3 other stores if this one did not work. But I was pleasantly surprised when the sales associates helped looked through racks of beautiful wedding dresses for "the one" that I envisioned. They had me select some dress ideas from their catalog in order to understand my taste and style. A few were so-so; some were too puffy, others were too plain. But when "the dress" arrived, I couldn't contain myself. It was just gorgeous. There was no blemish or bead in the wrong place. It is refined and classic, modern yet elegant. I found my perfect wedding dress and it's so beautiful. My grandma, mother and sister all agree. We all had huge smiles of excitement! The icing on the cake was finding a beautiful MOH (maid of honor) dress for Grace.
I also decided my wedding colors, tuxedo colors and flower colors.
Lastly, my awesome brother Nick spent an entire afternoon working on my wedding invitation. Did I mention he is awesome? It is the invitation above.
How great is my family? This is such a wonderful experience with family by my side through all the decision making. It's slowly coming together and I can't be more excited to see Aaron's face when he sees me.
